Appy Dir-day, Daddy.

If you ask Henry what today is, he'll enthusiastically tell you, "Appy Dir-day, Daddy!"

And then he'll want you to sing the Happy Birthday Daddy song. And you better get it right. He doesn't handle disappointment well.

All that to say, Happy Birthday to you, Matthew Duran Hooper!

Honey, I love you so, so much, and I do not deserve the way you love me.

You are such an incredible father to Henry and Harper. I often hold back tears as I witness them light up each evening when you walk through the door. And there's nothing more precious than when Henry looks at me in the morning and says, "Where Daddy go?" And I say, "He's at work." And he replies, "Bummer. I miss him."

Most importantly, it has been an absolute blessing and honor to witness how God has stretched you over the last few years. I am so thankful for the good work that He has begun in you and continues to carry out (Philippians 1:6).

And the icing on your dir-day cake, you taught me to shoot a gun! Now that's love.

  1. Happy Birthday Matt! ~ Lo

  2. I didn't realize it was Daddy Bird Day! Thanks for the reminder!

  3. I love you, too, Matt. You're an awesome husband and an amazing dad, and I'm proud to call you my friend. Hope your birthday was your best ever!!
